When I was little, I really wanted a dog. I wanted a dog so much that when I learned about the persuasive essay, I actually read essays about why we should get a dog to my parents. This went on for years, and each time I read one of my essays it was extremely disappointing that my parents didn’t take me to get a puppy right then. I didn’t every try to establish common ground with them, instead I focused most of my energy on the claim that I would take care of the dog. Now, I would probably try to find some common ground and think about how having a dog would benefit not only me, but my parents and my brothers as well.
